Mum Update___________
Went to see my mum in hospital today. Oh my God. As soon as I turned the corner, all I could see was her crying, it broke my heart. She was in so much pain!! As I stayed longer, the pain got worse, her speech got worse, and when a nurse asked her simple questions she had to think really hard and didn't know what year it was. I just thought... fuck!
Her breathing is very shallow and the only thing she is aware of is the pain in her head, neck and shoulder. The surgeon thread wires down the back of her neck, over her shoulder and under the right breast to reach a control pad on the right side of her stomach. All the nurses were giving her were fucking paracetamol!!! What the fuck?!?!
Its upsetting me writing this so I am just going to stop here, though I expect to have many tears tomorrow as not only is the whole mum thing stressing me out but also my best friend Amz is leaving for home. I don't want her to go <3
My mum was admitted in to hospital around 2:00pm having a shit load of scans and tests. I got a phone call from her and she sounded heart broken. The surgeons all visited her to explain the operation and said they would have to shave her bald. Her hair is her pride and joy. She has very little confidence in the way she looked, and her blonde hair was the one part of her she felt looked good.
I promised myself I would not cry this time, but I counted three tears that fell in Zushi, the phone call from my brother not helping as I had to explain to him what was going on (he is on holiday with friends).
I went to see my mum but was only allowed fifteen minutes with her. I am glad I did not cry in front of her, though she confessed her fears with me, and we had many pictures taken together, though all I could think was, would this be the last time I saw her smile? When leaving, I could not help but keep looking back as she walked off to her ward as my dad, Amz and I left for the car. I kept looking back until I could not see her anymore, fear overwhelming me. I was so tempted to just run back for her to give her another hug, but my mind told me not to be silly and pull myself together.
I have to be strong for my family. My brother can get very emotional, my dad gets angry easily, and I am beginning to despise certain members of my family for their selfishness! Preferring to go to skittles than talk to my mum, never mind it could be the last time they ever hear her voice!
The operation has a high percentage death risk, being deep brain stimulation and messing with the electrodes they will place in her brain. During the six hour operation, she will be woken up and tested to see what frequency of electric signals should course through her brain. She is very scared. I am so scared for her.
